A young family of four on Chicago’s north shore wanted to nearly double the size of their traditional home, but they also wanted to ensure their home would continue to reflect their respect for the integrity and character of their lovely street.
We removed the existing attached garage and in its place built a two-story (plus basement) addition, and also added a new garage at the back of the property. A tight house with three bedrooms, two baths, and a powder room became a home with four bedrooms, three baths, a powder room, and a mudroom, as well as an elegant dining room and new kitchen. Neighbors remark that the house fits seamlessly into its surroundings.
